Astrobase Command Racing Through Greenlight, Needs Help on Kickstarter

Time is short. Make haste!

Time is short. Make haste!

We’ve just set off on the last two days of our Astrobase Command Kickstarter campaign. While things are going swimmingly on Steam Greenlight (we’re currently at #11), we are falling far short of our crowd funding goal.

Build starbases, interact with your crew using an immersive interface.

This is not to say that it is impossible to reach the $113,000 or so that remain. Other campaigns have clawed back from further in the final hours. Our main challenge for this to happen, though, is to break above the internet’s background noise. There is just so much going on in these last days before Christmas that few have the opportunity to notice our project. The profound success we are having on Greenlight tells us that our concept resonates deeply with players. People are looking for a meaningful and deeply immersing storyline, one that highlights the importance of characters over the fantastic nature of advanced science fiction technologies.

Our modular astrobase construction system will allow players to build starbases of unlimited size.

This is where you come in. Your help in shouting out, spreading the word far and wide across the reaches of the interwebs, will give us a fighting chance to push this across the finish line.

We’d be grateful for any help you can lend.

The Kickstarter funds will allow us to accelerate the game’s delivery and most importantly hire a talented artist to replace all the placeholder art we are using with something gorgeous.

A little information about our game

Getting to know your crew and their personality quirks will be essential to your success.

Astrobase Command is a sandbox base-building RPG in a low-tech science fiction universe. Inspired by the science fiction movies and television shows of the ’70s and ’80s, its focus is on the bonds the player will develop with the characters rather than the advanced technology they use.

The datapad, one of the ways in which players will interface with the game world.

Build 3D starbases, explore exotic new worlds, and wage battles in space or on planetary surfaces. Everything is tied together by an advanced AI Storyteller that is like having a living, breathing Dungeon Master crafting a unique game experience for the player every time the game is played, offering endless replayability.

The action takes place onboard your station, in space, on planetary surfaces, and even on other astrobases.

Astrobase Command is available on Kickstarter at a discounted price of $15 until the campaign ends on December 20th at 10AM EST.

Remember to vote for us on Greenlight, too!

Astrobase Command Away Missions Update is Up

Our newest update is up. This time, we’re getting into the details of away missions and how the AI Storyteller ties them together to create compelling experiences for the player.

We’re also taking a moment to get really excited about our Steam Greenlight progress.

We’ve made it to 93% of the top 100 games on Greenlight in 15 days, and our cumulative yes vote curve is a thing of beauty. It’s wonderful to see so much support!

We’ve also got some pretty cool news in the works, which should be released shortly, so stay tuned.

We’re Big on Greenlight!

Well, sort of. Astrobase Command has been doing very well over its first few hours on Greenlight. We’ve already tallied up an impressive number of positive votes.

We’re really excited by the results, since it’s telling us loud and clear that the concept resonates with almost everyone who sees it. We can’t rest on our laurels, though. The curves are only projections, and don’t mean anything if we don’t keep working hard to convince the community that we’re going to deliver the absolute best game possible game, the one they deserve.

There’s still plenty of ground to cover until December 20th, so we’re just getting started. The Greenlight news is a great wind in our sails. We thank all of those who have taken the time to cast their vote (and those who will in the future!)

Astrobase Command Kickstarter: Update the Crew, Number 2!

The AI Storyteller works behind the scenes to tie everything together into a compelling and dynamic storyline

Our second update was published on Kickstarter this morning, and it’s chock full of goodness.

Although there’s some information on the forum badges, and clarification on our DRM policy, the meat lies in the overview of our AI Storyteller. We want the game to offer something unique, allowing it to stand out from the crowd by crafting dynamic story lines whose outcomes are determined by the characters capabilities and their personality.

Players will certainly be able to build 3D starbases, explore exotic new worlds, and wage battles in space and on planetary surfaces, but our gem, the AI Storyteller that is like having a living, breathing Dungeon Master crafting a unique game experience for the player every time the game is played, offering endless replayability.

Astrobase Command Kickstarter Looking Good!

Looking good!

Looking good!

What an exciting few days! Jellyfish Games’ Astrobase Command Kickstarter launched on Wednesday and was immediately featured as a staff pick. Shortly afterwards, I was picked up to work with the team to help bring this project to reality. We are now a few days on, and things are moving along smoothly and almost as predicted. As word of the project gets out, we are certain we will continue to generate momentum.

There are many things we believe that make our game unique. Dave Williams, the man who initiated this grand adventure, elaborated on one of the key features: the AI Storyteller. This system is the core to the game into which everything else feeds into and out of. There’s a wonderful account of it over on our forum that involves examples with intrepid explorers on exotic planets, strange caves, and alien eggs being brought back to a space station. The short and sweet of it is that the AI Storyteller is the equivalent of having a living, breathing Dungeon Master crafting a unique game experience for the player every time he played the game, offering endless replayability?

You can find out more about our Kickstarter here. If you like what you see, please help us spread the word around. Every little bit is appreciated!
