Astrobase Command Is Marching On

Astrobase Command_IndieDB_Profile Header Image(Large)

Things have been quiet on the blogging front for a while, but there’s a good reason for that. We’ve been busily chipping away at the pile of work needed to make Astrobase Command ready for release on Steam Early Access this Summer. As you can imagine, there are many things that have to get done to bring a game up from a tech demo that shows isolated aspects of game play to a playable game that can be put into the hands of eager fans.

You can see more of what awaits in this development blog entry, so why don’t you go check it out?

While you’re there, why don’t you sign up to our mailing list for future updates? You can find it on the right of our home page in the “Briefing Room” box.

Astrobase Command Greenlit on January 7th!

Sweet success!

Sweet success!

I know it has been a while, so let me begin by wishing all of you a belated 2014! I hope the year will be a stellar one for everyone.

We’ve been busily working on Astrobase Command from within our super secret hideout deep under an ancient volcano, so it’s easy to so get carried away with our experiments that we forget to post updates. I mean, sharks with missiles AND lasers on their heads don’t just build themselves, you know?

Anyhow, I wanted to take a minute to celebrate some pretty momentous news: Steam greenlit Astrobase Command on January 7th. This is superb, and has us bouncing off of our lair’s walls. What a wonderful way to kick off our work for the next year!

Astrobase Command Racing Through Greenlight, Needs Help on Kickstarter

Time is short. Make haste!

Time is short. Make haste!

We’ve just set off on the last two days of our Astrobase Command Kickstarter campaign. While things are going swimmingly on Steam Greenlight (we’re currently at #11), we are falling far short of our crowd funding goal.

Build starbases, interact with your crew using an immersive interface.

This is not to say that it is impossible to reach the $113,000 or so that remain. Other campaigns have clawed back from further in the final hours. Our main challenge for this to happen, though, is to break above the internet’s background noise. There is just so much going on in these last days before Christmas that few have the opportunity to notice our project. The profound success we are having on Greenlight tells us that our concept resonates deeply with players. People are looking for a meaningful and deeply immersing storyline, one that highlights the importance of characters over the fantastic nature of advanced science fiction technologies.

Our modular astrobase construction system will allow players to build starbases of unlimited size.

This is where you come in. Your help in shouting out, spreading the word far and wide across the reaches of the interwebs, will give us a fighting chance to push this across the finish line.

We’d be grateful for any help you can lend.

The Kickstarter funds will allow us to accelerate the game’s delivery and most importantly hire a talented artist to replace all the placeholder art we are using with something gorgeous.

A little information about our game

Getting to know your crew and their personality quirks will be essential to your success.

Astrobase Command is a sandbox base-building RPG in a low-tech science fiction universe. Inspired by the science fiction movies and television shows of the ’70s and ’80s, its focus is on the bonds the player will develop with the characters rather than the advanced technology they use.

The datapad, one of the ways in which players will interface with the game world.

Build 3D starbases, explore exotic new worlds, and wage battles in space or on planetary surfaces. Everything is tied together by an advanced AI Storyteller that is like having a living, breathing Dungeon Master crafting a unique game experience for the player every time the game is played, offering endless replayability.

The action takes place onboard your station, in space, on planetary surfaces, and even on other astrobases.

Astrobase Command is available on Kickstarter at a discounted price of $15 until the campaign ends on December 20th at 10AM EST.

Remember to vote for us on Greenlight, too!

Astrobase Command Away Missions Update is Up

Our newest update is up. This time, we’re getting into the details of away missions and how the AI Storyteller ties them together to create compelling experiences for the player.

We’re also taking a moment to get really excited about our Steam Greenlight progress.

We’ve made it to 93% of the top 100 games on Greenlight in 15 days, and our cumulative yes vote curve is a thing of beauty. It’s wonderful to see so much support!

We’ve also got some pretty cool news in the works, which should be released shortly, so stay tuned.

The Astrobse Command Kickstarter has just gone live.

Astrobase Command is being developed by Jellyfish Games, a small indie team in Montreal. It is a sandbox base-building RPG in a low-tech science fiction universe. Inspired by countless hours of your favourite science-fiction stories and movies, and fueled by an unmitigated passion for crafting a great game, I think these folks are on to something.

Build your own starbases. Note, this is placeholder art.

Please head over to Kickstarter and support them.
